Ærø Museum in Ærøskøbing

Explore Ærøskøbing’s attractive old sheriff’s house from 1775 and learn more about Ærø’s highly distinctive history. Ærø Museum tells the story of life on Ærø, both then and now.

For children (4–8 years) and their adults, we also have a free Cat Treasure Hunt.

The Museum Garden

Next to the museum you will find a town garden containing plants and trees, giving you an idea of what a garden would look like around 1920.

Don’t miss out on a walk in the garden during your visit to Ærø Museum.

Hammerich’s House

If you are fortunate to be on Ærø during the season, be sure to visit Hammerich’s House in Ærøskøbing. Here you will find low-ceilinged rooms, as well as nooks and crannies in abundance, but this is also where you will find the story of the sculptor Gunnar Hammerich and his love for the old town.

Hammerich’s House is open 2 June–17 October 2026.

The Bottle Ship Museum

If you are in Ærøskøbing during the summer season and are curious about maritime cultural heritage craftsmanship, then the collection of bottle ships and ship models is the perfect place to visit.

The collections are exhibited in Ærøskøbing’s former poorhouse and have been there since 1943. Bottle-Peter (1873–1960) built more than 1700 bottle ships and 50 large model ships.

The Bottle Ship Museum is open seasonally from 27 June – 30 August 2026. We look forward to seeing you in 2026.
