During your visit

Where to park? How is the accessibility? Find the answers here.

Parking

Hammerich’s House is located right in the centre of Ærøskøbing’s narrow streets.

We therefore recommend that anyone arriving by car should park at the harbour or in Pilebækken. From there, it is a 5 minute walk to the museum.

Accessibility

Access
Hammerich’s House has many small rooms and steep staircases. The house is therefore not suitable for people who have trouble walking and people in wheelchairs.

Admission
Companions of disabled persons have free admission when showing their companion card.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in Hammerich’s House.

Photography

You are welcome to take photographs in the museum for private use.

For professional photography, you must contact the museum in advance by e-mail at: info@museumsydfyn.dk

Experiences in Ærøskøbing

Just a few minutes’ walk from Hammerich’s House are Ærø Museum and the Bottle Ship Museum.

Ærø Museum

Explore Ærøskøbing’s attractive old sheriff’s house from 1775 and learn more about Ærø’s highly distinctive history. Ærø Museum tells the story of life on Ærø, both then and now.

For children (4–8 years) and their adults, we also have a free Cat Treasure Hunt.

Next to the museum you will find a town garden containing plants and trees, giving you an idea of what a garden would look like around 1920. Don’t miss out on a walk in the garden during your visit to Ærø Museum.

Ærø Museum is open from March 31 to November 28, 2026.

The Bottle Ship Museum

If you are in Ærøskøbing during the summer season and are curious about maritime cultural heritage craftsmanship, then the collection of bottle ships and ship models is the perfect place to visit.

The collections are exhibited in Ærøskøbing’s former poorhouse and have been there since 1943. Bottle-Peter (1873–1960) built more than 1700 bottle ships and 50 large model ships.

The Bottle Ship Museum is open seasonally from 27 June – 30 August 2026. We look forward to seeing you in 2026.

Guided tours

We offer guided tours in English to private groups, associations, company events and anyone else wishing to experience the museum. A guided tour lasts for approx. 1 hour.

As the rooms in Hammerich’s House are small, the number of people on a guided tour is limited to 15. On the other hand, there is no minimum number. For example, we would be happy to arrange a guided tour for a group of, for example, five people.

Please contact us in good time, ideally a minimum of 14 days before your visit. Please call on +45 6252 2950.
